CAN DIALECTICS BREAK DANCE?
SENSITIVE NEW AGE GANG + SVEN SIMULACRUM

Performance/Video
2009

Can Dialectics Break Dance? is a topical narrative dance battle to break dance out from competitive and privatised spaces, critique it’s elitist and corporate tendencies and to once and for all, lock ‘n pop a cap in the arse of binary gender narratives – WORD!

Aligning their political impulses with the enlightened kung fu warriors in Rene Vienet’s Situationist classic Can Dialectics Break Bricks? and drawing from Lauro and Embry’s critique of late capitalism, A Zombie Manifesto, SNAG stage a dance battle against corporate aesthetics and gender binaries using Simulacrum’s re-cut footage from the popular TV show
So You Think You Can Dance as a stimulus.

Sensitive New Age Gang is a prophetic dance sermon against competitive dance capital and oppressive binary representations.

Sven Simulacrum is Genre Bender/Slasher Selecta/Cultural Cannibalist.
